A Day in My Life // 07.30.15

I've had a project in mind for a while now, but never took the time for it, until Thursday (07.30.15). From the early morning hours of my coffee and quiet time before Eva gets up for the day, to getting ready for bed with Daddy, I captured one entire day in pictures. True, I didn't get every single little detail, but rather highlighted the main points of the day. Thus, this was a typical day in my life (not including housecleaning because I had cleaned just a couple of days before, so I didn't have much to do on this Thursday). In addition to the normal activities of daily life, we went to the Brown County fair, to visit with family and watch motocross racing, which is definitely not normal, but it made for a pleasant evening.

My mom just recently gave me a percolator, which I'm greatly relishing, because I've developed a deep appreciation and love for coffee. I've always loved the smell of coffee, but could never enjoy the taste. Cappuccino was more my style. It's only been in the past year that my coffee taste buds have really sparked, but I still have to have real cream and sweetening.

When this beautiful baby first wakes up in the morning she is the sweetest and happiest little thing. I knock on the door before entering and she pipes "Da-da!" I then say, "No, it's Ma-ma!" to which she then heartily says "Ma-ma!" I've tried to get her to say 'Mommy' but her version sounds more like 'money.' Next it's diaper changing time, because believe me, I feel like I'm changing her every hour due to how much water she drinks. Seriously, I know she drinks more water than I do, and I try to drink a gallon a day!

Morning kisses. Oh the sweetness. I could just gobble her up, but thankfully I'm not the child-eating witch from Hansel and Gretel, so I'll settle for lots of hugs and kisses. XOXOXO

Her favorite stuffed animal is her Pooh Bear that she was given at the hospital when she was born, but she still loves her babies. I'm thankful she already has that love of little babies, for future siblings, and her own children one day, Lord willing.

I think her bed is the most dreaded part of the house, so in the morning she is most eager to escape, in order to run wild and free. And play and make all kinds of messes. Yippee.

Let's just set something straight. I don't normally let her jump on the bed, but this was an exceptional morning. I was doing a bit of cleaning after I made the bed, so I let Eva up since she was trying to get up by herself anyway. I immediately grabbed my camera as she jumped and giggled and acted crazy. I swear, I think all children go crazy if they're allowed on a bed (besides bedtime that is), which is probably why the trampoline was invented.

Next came breakfast for the hungry little girl, especially after all that jumping. Nom-nom-nom. Who doesn't love food? Yeah...food...I have such a love/hate relationship with that loathsome yet delicious thing.

Afterwards came our exercise routine. One of these days I have to get a video, because getting a picture on my own is near impossible. Eva is the funniest thing. Not only does she crawl all over me during abs, but then she gets in the groove and starts jumping and squatting super fast during cardio, all-the-while shrieking with laughter. I probably get more of a workout from laughing than anything.

Eva loves books, and can even say 'book' really well! She's not into my reading quite as much as she is into holding the book and flipping the pages all by herself. She goes too fast that I barely read one word and she's ready to move on.

And of course, she has to get her dose of Veggie Tales or Strawberry Shortcake adventures. Once I turn her movie on she is glued.

Eva's first few baths as a very little baby she squalled and I thought for sure there was either (1) something wrong, or (2) she would surely hate baths for the rest of her young life. Thankfully, neither were true. She's always very eager to take a bath, and asks me practically every day. I thought this meant she loves water, so a few weeks ago we went swimming, but it was a disaster. She eventually got used to the water, but would start screaming if I even tried to let her go. True, it was over her head, and since I can't swim, I might have been screaming too.

Eva is a little dancing fiend. Usually, as soon as she hears any type of music, she'll start head banging and swinging her hips. If I were an overly proud mom I'd have her audition or at least sign up for dance lessons, but it's probably a bit soon. Not everyone can be Shirley Temple.

Her hair is getting so long, and just barely flips out like it's been styled. I've always wanted naturally curly hair, but since it's straighter than straight I really hoped one day to have a daughter with curly hair. It definitely could be possible, because Dannie had curls as a baby (although after his first haircut they were no more [insert sad face]). Eva's hair may not be curly, but it's adorable how it flips out so prettily, especially right after a bath.

The best part of the day is when Daddy comes home. Eva is usually just waking up from her nap, so Dannie gets the do the honors of her post-nap time diaper change (and no, I don't force him, he does it out of love). She is always extremely excited to see him. Sometimes during the day she'll go through the house saying "Da-da! Da-da" I then have to tell her that Daddy is at work, to which she says something that sounds like work. For now she doesn't understand, but one day she'll learn that Daddy has to go out five, and sometimes six days of the week to provide for his family, not only because God ordained it that way, but because he loves us so much he's willing to sacrifice anything.

Like I said at the beginning of this post, that night we went to the Brown County fair. It was motocross night, but we also wanted to spend some time with Dannie's side of the family. Once again, Eva was in awe of her surroundings (I can't wait until we take her to the zoo for the first time).

We didn't get home until late, so it was definitely baby's bedtime. She brushed her teeth like a big girl, which is a lot more mandatory than it used to be when she only had four teeth. She likes to be like Daddy.

Eva hates, no, despises going to bed. She acts like it's some form of torture, and I hate that it gets turned into a disciplinary lesson. But I'm starting to learn that the later we allow her to stay up the easier she goes to bed, and sometimes doesn't even make a peep! Believe me, that's a real shocker. Unfortunately, though, Dannie has to go to bed early, so her bedtime is usually between 8:30 and 9:00. This night, however, was one of those good nights that she went to sleep fast with no problems. We give her Pooh Bear and goodnight kisses, and tell her that tomorrow is another day to run and play...but first she has to get some rest.

Oh, and I had to give Pooh Bear a goodnight kiss too. Mommy mustn't forget about Pooh Bear.

So, that was a day in my life- kind of a normal day with not much happening. Days are always different, and there are times that I'm a lot busier. This was pretty much a quiet, simple day at home. But it's the little things that matter most, and ordinary days can make for the best memories. My mom said I ought to makes these pictures into a book as a remembrance of this day in my life, and I think it's a grand idea. Nothing spectacular happened, and it definitely wasn't a marvelous experience of some sort, but one of these days I'll look back on this day and be so glad I did this. My little girl will be all grown up, and I can look back with nostalgic tears on when life was simple and sweet in her young years. These are the days that are the best times of our lives.
