Johnson County Fair // 07.24.15

Last night was a beautiful evening. The air was a bit hot and humid, as it always is in summer, but not quite as bad as it's been. As the evening progressed, and the sun began it's descent, the sky was magnificent. All the colors of pink, orange, and red were a sight to behold. There were so many people milling about, and even though it was quite cumbersome to walk in certain spots, we tried not to take notice. It was all about enjoying the evening, and walking around the Johnson County Fair before it ends. Unfortunately, Dannie worked late that day, so we only had an hour of daylight left, which means I didn't get all the pictures I wanted (depending on how tonight goes, there might be a part two). We also didn't get to try any delicious fair food, first of all because I was too busy taking pictures, and secondly, because it was extremely packed with people! All-in-all, however, it was a pleasant evening just strolling around the fairgrounds. I didn't go to many fairs growing up, but since we've been married, I've gone every year. This was Eva's second year to go, but definitely the first in her mind. She loved taking in all the new sights, and was in awe of the crowds of people shrieking at the top of their lungs on the fair rides. Personally, I'm afraid of heights, so just watching I felt sick. But in her eyes I guess it looked pretty fun.

I'm so thankful for any small amount of time we get to enjoy life, as simple as it may be, as a little family. Some day in the future, whenever God's timing is right, there will be more littles to make memories with and show new things. But for now, I'm hopelessly and completely in love with our little Eva, and I'm so humbled that I get to be her mother. Her enthusiasm over the smallest things makes me laugh, and gives me an even greater appreciation for life.

Portraits and Sunsets // 07.21.15

"Beauty is a radiance that originates from within and comes from inner security and strong character."

My sister Kirstie stayed with me at the beginning of this week, so it was only logical that I took her out one evening to the park for a few pictures (any excuse to get out my camera). The sunset was gorgeous yet again, and I only wish I could shoot every evening in such fabulous light! As you will see in the following pictures, I tried my hand at a few different edits than normal. I usually prefer crisp and clean, but here lately I've been dabbling in some VSCO presets (with major tweaking to fit my style of course).

I also had Kirstie snap a few photos of me since I hardly ever have my picture taken, which will be included at the bottom of this post. Years ago, it would've been because I hated anyone taking my picture, but now it's usually because I'd rather be behind the camera than in front of it, so I just don't take the time to get any of myself. I'm still pretty particular and hard to please when it comes to getting my picture done...just ask my husband...but thankfully I've loosened up a bit since my early [awkward] teenage years.
