Violet Isabelle Proud 04.06.16 // Cumberland Indiana

I'm in love.

I think I have baby fever.

On March 28 this sweet little bundle of joy was born to my sister Grace and her husband Nathan (remember their maternity session a few weeks ago?), and I became an aunt for the first time. Violet Isabelle Proud has already stolen so many hearts with her beautiful blue eyes and rosebud mouth, and just look at all that blonde hair!

Truth be told, I don't advertise newborn sessions, not because I don't love babies, but newborn photography just isn't my strong suit (I prefer to leave it to professionals like Rachel Vanoven), but for family, I'll make an exception.  And even though I wish my pictures did look like Rachel Vanoven's, the result of patience and feedings and interruptions to get a few decent pictures of little Violet were well worth the time.

I'm just not good with kids. Grace was always the baby whisperer. Until my own child came along, I didn't know what it felt like to have so much love for a little person that it overwhelms you. Don't get me wrong, I've always loved babies, but kids have just never taken to me. So I guess it goes without saying why I prefer not to delve into newborn photography. Still yet, it was my pleasure to take a few pictures for my sister of her wee bairn, and as a plus, I got to sneak in some baby snuggle time. Aaahhhhh, the smell of a freshly born baby. I'm hooked.

Nathan + Grace: maternity // 02.21.16

I know I tend to over post a lot when it comes to sharing pictures, but in this case it can't be helped. My sister Grace is the cutest little pregnant woman, and I know she's going to be a terrific mom. Little Violet is due in the next six weeks, give or take a bit, though I know Grace is hoping sooner than later.

Last weekend was absolutely beautiful weather, which made for a perfect day to do Grace's maternity pictures at Province Park in Franklin, Indiana. I was hoping it meant an early spring, but alas I don't think so, because snow is now on the forecast. At least we enjoyed it while the warmth lasted.

I can't wait to watch Nathan + Grace in their new roles as a dad and mom, and I absolutely can't wait to be an aunt! Because I'm the oldest of all the Brown kids, I figured it'd be a while before I got any nieces or nephews, so I'm pretty ecstatic to welcome sweet Violet (as I know she's for sure going to be sweet) into the world!
