Fondren Wedding // 12.13.14

On December 13, 2014 I was able to second shoot my very first wedding with a new photographer friend, Andrea Kish from Indianapolis. I was ecstatic when she first contacted me, because it is my dream to become a wedding photographer, even though there is still so much I still have to learn (and not to mention all the frustration and confusion I have about taxes and becoming legal and all...but enough of that).  So, not only did I gain a new friend who is also a photographer (score!), I took one of the first steps towards my dream- gaining a little bit of experience.

After the entire wedding was over, I felt rather glum- not because it wasn't what I'd imagined, but because I was afraid I had botched the entire thing, and that all my images were unusable. Thankfully, that was just my self-doubt speaking. Getting to second shoot my first wedding was extremely fun and beneficial, and it helped prepare me a tiny bit to second shoot my sister's wedding in January (more on that in a later post). I was very uncomfortable at first, because I am not much of a people person. I've always been the shy, embarrassed, reserved sort of person (so tell me again whyyyy I'm trying to be a photographer?!), so I felt very out of place sticking my camera in the faces of people I didn't even know.  Thankfully, this first wedding experience showed me my weaknesses and failures, and taught me [just a little!] on how to be outgoing and take charge. Because really, people want a professional, especially when it comes to their wedding, not some mousy wallflower who doesn't know what she's doing. And to at least act like I am one means I need to pretend like I know what I'm doing, even if I feel very insecure in myself and my abilities. The confidence will come with time and experience.

But enough about silly me. Enjoy the moments captured on this beautiful wedding day!
