Happenings as of 04.27.15 [or what's going on in my life right now]

This was our Easter 2015 picture, about as good as we could get after 50+ attempts. If it wasn't Eva being uncooperative and fussy, then it was Dannie and his grin that looks a little weird after he's held it for five minutes straight, or one of my very unattractive faces (and probably a double chin) typical of me. Why is it so hard just to get a quick family snapshot?

Anyway. 2015 has been pretty great so far. I've second shot a couple of weddings already (and speaking of which, I just did one this past Saturday, and can't wait to start posting pictures!), I have a couple of more lined up in May, one of which is in Kentucky, AND THEN I have my very first two weddings booked for September! Eeeek! Plus, different things here and there are opening up all the time, which has me excited and hyped about what's to come! I can get very discouraged when I see how many weddings other photographers already have booked for this year (and not to mention the next), but I have to keep reminding myself that this is my first year getting into the wedding industry. From what I've seen, and read from first hand accounts, most wedding photographers start out with just a few weddings their first year, and with consistency, determination, patience, marketing, referrals, hard work, practice, and a lot of endurance, a year or two later things really starting opening up.

Enough rambling. Speaking of my husband, I snapped these following pictures on Easter Sunday just because he was particularly nice looking that day, and proved to him that being in front of the camera doesn't have to be as awkward as he makes it out to be (who am I, the Queen of Awkward, to be saying that?).

As far as recent happenings go, besides enjoying the spring weather one minute and being stuck inside because of all the rain and mud, we're in the process of moving from one rental home (that we've lived in for ten months) to another- one that will be closer to work for Dannie. Being a preacher's kid, as well as moving to Georgia for a few years, my family and I moved a lot in my 18 years at home. Therefore, once Dannie and I got married I told him quite adamantly that I didn't want to move more than two times: once to a rental, and finally, to a house of our own. This will be our third time to move so far, and we still haven't bought a place. Plus, once we do get a house of our own, who's to say that we'll live there for the rest of our lives? Sometimes I really hate irony.

But, like my mom told me, instead of getting all disheartened about everything, think of it as an adventure. So, I've wisely taken her advice, and tried not to mutter under my breath as I packed boxes and boxes of stuff for the 115th time.

But really, I shouldn't complain. This is now almost two months that we've been looking for a place to live, and truth be told I've actually gotten excited about moving. I have all these grand resolutions of what I'll do to our new place, how clean and beautiful I'll keep the house....oh wait, I forgot I have a toddler. Never mind that.

For now, the adventures of my little family (hashtag #younglaws) are just the small, seemingly insignificant of normal, daily life, but they are our adventures, and I'm pretty happy.

Morgan: portraits // Columbus, Indiana

A week ago (04/13/15) I did some portraits of beautiful Morgan under the magnolias, and also a few shots with her sister-in-law Emily. Although Spring is my least favorite time of year because of how rainy, overcast, and muddy it is, I love the colors that start popping out everywhere, and the burst of warm weather after a long winter- not to mention the enthusiasm of getting my camera out after what seemed too long. This location was a dream!
